The food here is amazing; were treated to a lovely meal last night in a local restaurant. Fantastic fish, prawns, pork, beans etc. in ginger, garlic and lots of other spices.Today we organised a party for the manager's birthday. All children were given a milkshake, made in front of them with fresh fruit, condensed milk and ice. The students organised 'instruments' for all the children, so they had plastic bottles filled with stones, rice, beans etc., pots and pans with wooden spoons and bamboo sticks for drums! We had a great time. We are going out tonight for his birthday and tomorrow we are leaving for the weekend to Mantanani Island Mari. We have a coach journey north for an hour, then a boat trip. Lots of diving and snorkeling apparently. We'll be back on Monday late afternoon.Really looking forward to seeing more of the area.

  1. Hope you've taken the fins and bins with you. Might see orang utans as well? Can't wait for the updates.

  2. Wow those prawns look delicious!! Banging on upturned buckets must be a welcome break from marking too! Trip to the island will no doubt be wonderful, very jealous that you'll be swimming in the sea and snorkeling! Take lots of pics!! It's great to see all your updates and pics online! Lots of love x
